Books and true love at The Boston Athenaeum

THE BOSTON ATHENEUM

Cristina and Ken's wedding at the Boston Athenaeum was pretty spectacular. The entire day took place inside the Athenaeum, from portraits through dinner and the celebration, so we got to photograph throughout one of Boston's most incredible spaces.

PORTRAITS AROUND THE ATHENAEUM

We spent some time taking portraits throughout the Boston Athenaeum, using the incredible architecture and all of the different rooms as our backdrop. The building has so much character and so many layers to photograph that we could keep finding new places to work.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony took place in one of the Athenaeum's galleries, surrounded by paintings and artwork from floor to ceiling and the whole room was framed by all of that incredible art and architecture.

It was a pretty spectacular backdrop for getting married.

DINNER

After the ceremony, everyone sat down for dinner. The room got a little darker and cozier, and the evening settled into dinner, speeches, and a lot of laughing around the tables.

I loved photographing all of the little reactions throughout dinner—Cristina and Ken laughing together, guests listening to speeches, and all of those in-between moments that happen when everyone is sitting around the same table.

THE CELEBRATION

Who doesn't love partying in an old, gorgeous library? Your favorite '80s dance songs, surrounded by paintings, sculptures, and all of the incredible details of the Athenaeum.

Cristina and Ken's party was a pretty great collision of old and new—formal wedding clothes, historic artwork, and everyone dancing.
